Nottinghamshire cricket have launched ‘Chance to Shine’ in Notts -to encourage more young players to get into the game.

The launch took place at the Cricket Pavilion on Victoria Embankment where 8-15 year old cricket enthusiasts gathered to be taught by some of the country’s very best players and coaching staff.

Regular evening sessions are being held throughout June and July on Wednesdays at the Forest Recreation Ground, and Thursdays on the Embankment.

Each session features a leaderboard for the fastest bowler, biggest hitter and leading wicket taker.

It’s a great opportunity

Nottinghamshire all-rounder Samit Patel said: “It’s great to see how many kids have come along to the launch.

“It’s a great opportunity and you never know where these kind of things can take kids at such a young age; it can get you into the sport and off the street.

“That’s the whole objective as you never know how good you are or how good you can be.”
