A primary school in West Bridgford is closed today (Wednesday November 30) after tiles fell from its roof.

Jesse Gray Primary School, on Musters Road, decided to shut for the day today after issuing an email to parents yesterday (Tuesday November 29) evening.

Tiles fell from the roof on Monday (November 28) evening and the school is closed so that checks can take place.

The checks will be carried out by structural engineers who are due to carry assessments throughout the day.

All ceilings need to be checked to ensure they are safe

Headteacher Sarah Law said: “Following tiles falling down on Monday evening, all ceilings need to be checked to ensure they are safe.

“We have been advised that the school needs to be closed today to all pupils to allow this to be done.

“I understand this will cause huge inconvenience but I know you will agree that the safety of our children is paramount.”

The school have said that further updates will be posted on their website when it is known.
