PREVIEW: Notts County need to stay ‘switched on’ to beat Crawley

Video: Manager John Sheridan on staying ‘switched on’

Notts County manager John Sheridan thinks that the Mapgies need to stay ‘switched on’ to get three points at Crawley.

Notts travel to Broadfield Stadium tomorrow (Saturday August 27) for a 3pm kick off against high-flying Crawley Town.

The Magpies will be looking to build on their first win of the season last weekend, a 2-1 comeback win away at Hartlepool.

It’s important you don’t fight an uphill battle

John Sheridan said: “Conceding the first goal is something that we’ve got to rectify; if we can get an advantage then all the better.

“It’s important in games that you don’t get in the position where you’re fighting an uphill battle and that’s something that’s happened in all the games so far.

“The simple answer is to stay switched on and to keep the game tight for half an hour, the first half or any time that we need to.”

I work on us more than worrying about the opposition

John Sheridan also spoke about what he thinks the key to consistency is.

He said: “To build consistency, we just need to be clear at what we’re good at and how we go about games.

“A lot of teams play different formations but it’s all the same, it’s 11v11 for me.

“I work on us more than worrying about the opposition because I need to know what we’re going to get.”

Notts County’s record against Crawley Town

Played: 8

The Magpies pulled off the double against Crawley Town last season, winning both fixtures home and away.

Notts County hosted the Reds at Meadow Lane and won 4-1 on September 22 2015 thanks to braces from Mike Edwards and Liam Noble after going a goal down.

County followed that up a 1-0 win at Broadfield Stadium on January 16 thanks to a 62nd minute winner from Filip Valencic.

The weather in Crawley for kick off tomorrow is due to be clear with temperatures reaching 25 degrees centigrade.
