Would you have what it takes to be a firefighter? With Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue holding a recruitment drive, Stephanie Bennett went to find out if she had what it takes to make the grade.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue service are recruiting across fourteen different departments, including for retained or on-call firefighters.
They each have different levels of availability depending on the time they can offer from their other jobs or responsibilities.
Retained firefighter Jim Adams said: “Sometimes during the day we struggle; the more people we have during the day the better.”
Firefighters will commit a certain number of on call hours a week and must remain in the area and carry a pager.
Retained firefighter Gary Fordham said: “We are looking for people from all walks of life, if you feel like you want something challenging and rewarding I suggest you apply.”
