A final General Election leaders’ debate held in Nottingham highlighted the plight of dozens of local councils which have effectively gone bankrupt – and cast doubt on how quickly any future Government could provide extra funding to struggling local authorities like Nottingham.
Having been held by the Conservatives since 2010, Broxtowe is a Nottinghamshire constituency watched closely by national campaigners - the result here has matched who has won overall control of the Government in every single election since the area in its current format was created in 1983.
Nottingham protesters have called on the next Prime Minister to end a 'crisis' in council funding ahead of the final election leaders' TV debate being held in the city.
