The £150 million A453 upgrade from Clifton to the M1 has been delayed by two weeks for further minor works.
The project that began over two years ago will be opened two weeks later than planned due to some minor work required.
The upgrade is set to widen the road from Clifton to the M1. The route carries up to 30,000 vehicles a day and is a major stretch between Nottingham, the M1 and East Midlands Airport.
The scheme that is partly funded by Nottinghamshire County Council was originally supposed to open in July.
The improvement work includes widening the 1.5 mile urban section through Clifton from a two-lane carriageway to a four-lane single carriageway.
