Local artist Matt Jordan from Sherwood has revealed his ‘vibrant and fun’ art work on the front doors of Mansfield Road Baptist Church.
The church has been looking at ways to improve the exterior of the building, so with the help of Matt Jordan he painted the doors at the front to give the church a complete new makeover.
The project was the idea of Reverend Andy Wilson who thought it was a good way to highlight the church and it’s work within the community.
He said: “I am excited that the church family wanted to be creative as the doors needed attention. The result is something that speaks about the life of the church buildings here in a visible way.
“It tells people of the hopes and aims of ourselves as a church family and how we want the buildings to be used.”
Local artist, Matt Jordan is familiar with the church as he regularly visits the baby and toddler group which is held there three times a week.
The children are building the future, they’re helping one another grow, so it was natural to choose that theme.
Matt Jordan, Artist
“Everybody is so nice at the baby and toddler group, there’s lots of singing and dancing, so it was a natural choice to make the painting vibrant and fun.”

There is a multi-coloured aspect to the paintings to represent the diversity of the area and also the people who use the building.
The message behind the chosen artwork is that it depicts a relaxed and happy atmosphere, which is the Church’s main objective.
The artwork was displayed on Wednesday and was presented by the artist. His work is available to view on-line at:Â www.mattjordan.co.uk.
