A shopkeeper was tied up and threatened with a gun on a busy Saturday afternoon by a robber wearing a high-vis jacket.

It happened at the branch of Timpson locksmith and shoe repair shop on Beeston High Road at 5pm on November 5.

The male member of staff was not injured in the incident, but is at home recovering after police said they were left “extremely shaken” by the ordeal.

It is the first time the shop has been targeted, although it was open as usual by Monday morning.

A spokesman for the company described the event as a “traumatic experience” for the shopkeeper and a “serious crime”.

He added: “What’s happened, happened. It’s time for the police to do their side of things and try and apprehend the person as soon as possible.”

It is unclear how much money was taken in the raid, but the firm has launched an internal investigation to determine how the incident happened.

The culprit ran towards Tesco and is described as being of mixed race, medium build, clean shaven and was wearing a yellow high-visibility jacket, blue work trousers and black Adidas trainers.

Anyone who witnessed the raid, or has any information, is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 615.

Alternatively, people are advised to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
