Busted, Billy Ocean and Tony Hadley to join Kaiser Chiefs at Splendour Festival 2017

Busted, Billy Ocean and Tony Hadley are among the next wave of acts announced for this year’s Splendour Festival at Wollaton Park.

These will join headliners Kaiser Chiefs at the city’s biggest festival which takes place at Wollaton Park on Saturday July 22.

Busted, one of the biggest homegrown pop acts of the 21st century, will generate plenty of excitement joining Kaiser Chiefs as the next act confirmed for the Main Stage.

Beloved by a whole generation of fans who grew up with them in the noughties, the double Brit-Award winning band will deliver their hits such as ‘Year 3000’, ‘What I Go To School For’ and ‘Crashed The Wedding’.

Billy Ocean will headline the Confetti stage

Headlining the Confetti stage will be Grammy-award winning singer Billy Ocean.

He has sold more than 30 million records and has collected a pile of gold and platinum records throughout his hugely successful career.

Expect him to perform his hits such as ‘Love Really Hurts Without You‘, ‘Suddenly’ and ‘When The Going Gets Tough The Tough Get Going’.

Tony Hadley will join Busted and the Kaiser Chiefs on the main stage

Tony Hadley, frontman of Spandau Ballet, will be joining Kaiser Chiefs and Busted on the Main Stage.

Spandau Ballet formed in 1978 and had multiple chart-topping albums and hits, most famously ‘Gold’.

George Akins, owner of DHP Family which runs Splendour, said: “Feedback on the Kaiser Chiefs announcement was epic, with sales well ahead of this time last year.

“Once again we’re confident this line up, with a mix of music legends and mega bands, will satisfy the 20,000 strong crowd at the award-winning Splendour Festival.

“Get your tickets quick as we’re expecting another sell out year!”

Also announced is Black Grape formed by Shaun Ryder and Paul ‘Kermit’ Leveridge after the demise of Happy Mondays.

Following a UK tour to mark the 21st anniversary of chart topping debut album ‘It’s Great When You’re Straight… Yeah’, and a show at Rock City in December, expect hits such as ‘In The Name Of The Father’ and ‘Reverend Black Grape’.

British Sea Power will play at Splendour this year

British Sea Power have also been announced and have some famous admirers – such as the late great David Bowie, Lou Reed and Harry Potter himself; Daniel Radcliffe.

They’ve played on ships at sea, deep inside Cornish mines and on top of the Great Wall of China and will add Splendour to their venue arsenal later this year.

Gabrielle Aplin will play on the main stage

On the main stage is British singer-songwriter Gabrielle Alpin, best known for her cover of Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s ‘The Power Of Love’ for the John Lewis Christmas TV campaign.

It also reached number one in the UK chart and since then, her album ‘English Rain’ has been certified as gold in the UK.

Georgie will also be making an appearance at Splendour

Singer-songwriter Georgie is returning to Splendour after supporting Jake Bugg on a UK tour.

She started making her first forays at the age of 14 and has developed a strong reputation in Nottingham.

The festival will be championing local talent by offering the opening slot of the main stage to the unsigned act which tops the Future Sound of Nottingham competition.

Headlining the Acoustic Rooms stage will be the musical duo and The Voice UK contestants Into The Ark, who have been hotly tipped by their coach Tom Jones.

Over on the Funhouse Comedy Stage, acts will include Jim Smallman, Wes Zaharuk, Jollyboat, Steve Royle, Scott Bennett and Barry Dodds.
