Nottingham’s second busiest shopping centre is a few steps closer to redevelopment after its plans were submitted to Nottingham City Council.
The £150 million pound project will feature a new cinema, restaurants and a walkway from the shopping centre to the train station.
After several failed plans to redevelop the centre , Intu Broadmarsh general manager Adam Tamsett is sure that the renovations will happen this time.
He says : “The Westfield project was too ambitious at £500 million whereas our project is more realistic at £150 million.”
Besides new stores, the shopping mall will also feature a new glass entrance .
Adam says : “We hired designers to make a glass entrance since people liked the idea of having an open shopping centre.”
The expected increase in customers will hopefully lead to more visitors for the Nottingham caves, which is housed inside the shopping centre.
According to Adam, the caves are the third most visited tourist attraction in all of Nottingham.
The refurbishment is expected to start next year once the plans are approved.
