City centre street is 15th worst place for crime in the country

A Nottingham street has been named one of the biggest crime hotspots in the UK.

The Home Office has released data showing King Street was 15th in the list of postcodes where most crimes took place in April.

King Street, is located near the Brian Clough statue and acts as a major bus terminal for Nottingham City Transport and stretches from the Frankie and Benny’s restaurant on Parliament Street all the way along to the 3 mobile store on Clumber Street.

Statistics reveal that 47 offences took place on King Street in the month of April. Top of the crime list was Meridian Square, in Newham, London which suffered over three times the number in King Street.

“The 50 postcode areas saw 2,424 crimes committed in the last month.”

King Street was the only Nottingham street in the top 50.
