Cooper: We must build on encouraging performances

Mark Cooper says his players can’t rest on their laurels following a thrilling draw with table-toppers Northampton.

The Magpies face Stevenage at home on Saturday as they look to build on a spirited 2-2 tie last weekend at Sixfields Stadium.

Speaking ahead of the game, Cooper said: “We can control what goes on, on the pitch at the moment so the players need to play as well as they can.”

And goalkeeper Scott Loach has strong competition in former Man United shot-stopper Roy Carroll but is determined to cement his place in the team.

He said: “My prime focus is to put the performances in and show everyone I’m capable of being number one here for the future.”

Stevenage sit only three points behind County, who have played a match more so the pressure is on as The Magpies look to move away from the League Two relegation zone.

Kick-off tomorrow is at 3pm – for more from Mark Cooper watch Notts TV News on Friday April 8 via Freeview Ch 7, Sky 117, Virgin 159 at 5.30pm, 6pm, 7pm and 10pm.
