Dealer caught with £8,000 worth of drugs jailed

A dealer found with £8,000 worth of illegal drugs has been jailed after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

Darrell Anton Edwards was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison at Nottingham Crown Court.

Edwards was arrested when officers stopped a car on Queens Drive in Nottingham in August and saw Edwards throw a block of cocaine out of the window.

Edwards, 31, of Perry Barr, Birmingham, was also found with more than £3,500 in cash.

This shows how much we are working to get illegal drugs off our streets

Temporary detective chief inspector Karen Pearson said: “The work of the officers involved in this case has been fully rewarded with this result.

“I am very pleased to see Edwards receive a jail sentence and it will give him a long time to think about his decisions and his actions.

“This result also shows how much we are doing to get illegal drugs off our streets and serves as a warning to other illegal drug users that we will eventually find you and bring you to justice.”

Later on the same day he was arrested, officers carried out a drugs warrant at an address in Balmoral Road in Colwick where they found £1,500 cash, three wraps of powder, which included cocaine and heroin, plus three knives with powder on the tips.

Documentation linking the address to Edwards was also found.
