Fire breaks out at derelict school in Arnold with thick smoke pouring out

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Services is currently putting out a fire at a derelict school in Arnold.

The force Tweeted at around 4.40pm the fire had broke out at the site of a derelict school on Rolleston Drive in Arnold.

Crews from Arnold, Carlton and Stockhill were sent to deal with the blaze.

The service Tweeted: “Please be aware that this is putting out a lot of smoke.

“Please close doors and windows while we deal with the incident.”

Arnold station manager Tom Archer said: “There are quite a few road closures in the area in place and the smoke plume is large.

“We would like to advise you to avoid the area if possible.

“We’ve got 30 firefighters on the scene dealing with the incident and we will update you as soon as we know any more information.”
