Forest manager Freedman on tactics for the Brighton game

Dougie Freedman will take charge of his first game as Nottingham Forest manager when they travel to Brighton on Saturday.

The former Forest player took over from Stuart Pearce this week and now has the tough job of breaking a run of just one win in 11 games and improving on their Championship position of 12th.

Freedman believes the squad he has at his disposal is good enough to improve on that position, starting with the game at the weekend.

“On the training ground they have been brilliant, the speed and intensity has been right up there it is now about regaining that confidence in games,” he said.

Forest’s next four games come against clubs lower than them in the league before a trip to current league leaders Bournemouth on February 25.

But Freedman is under no illusion that any game in the Championship is easy and believes his team will have to look over their shoulders before looking up the table.

“I have told the players that before we can even think about moving up the table we need to start winning games and stretch the lead above the bottom clubs,” he said.

“No game is easy in this league as it is so tight so if we win five games we can be right in the mix but if we lose five games we could find ourselves with a fight on our hands.

“First up it is all about getting that consistency and momentum back and I am sure then the results will be on our side.”
