Forest skipper Chris Cohen returning to training today

After more than a year out with injury, Chris Cohen is finally ready to return to full training and boost the Red’s Championship aspirations.

Cohen, 28, is the club’s longest serving player having signed from Yeovil back in July 2007. He suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury, the third of his career, in the 1-1 draw against Derby County last September.

Talismanic midfielder Andy Reid also suffered an injury in the same game.

Nottingham Forest chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi paid for Cohen to see a specialist in America, who according to the player was “incredibly helpful”.

Chris is the first of a number of Reds players set to return from long-term injuries. Britt Assombalonga, Andy Reid, Robert Tesche and Matty Fryatt are all due to return around Christmas time.

The midfielder has admitted that changes will have to be made to the way he plays in order to stay fit this time but hopes he will come back a better player than he was before.
