Fourteen men have been sentenced for conspiracy to commit unlawful violence after troubled broke out at a pub after Nottingham Forest played Derby County in September 2013.

Nottingham Crown Court heard how a clash between rival sets of fans involving 70 people was organised to take place near to the Festival Inn pub, in Trowell.

Witnesses said fighting broke out and that glasses and glass bottles were being used as missiles.

They’ve done a great dishonour to their clubs

Chief superintendent Mark Holland of Notts Police, said: “Football-related violence has no place in modern society and those who act violently, supposedly in the name of sport, do a great dishonour to the clubs they claim to support and the game in general.

“Evidence showed these men arranged with one another to meet at a location on the border of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire with the sole intention of violence.

“All those involved should be ashamed of their actions that day which fell well below the usually impeccable standard set by real supporters of both clubs week in, week out.”
