Haunted house maze in Stapleford giving a fright for Cancer Research

A haunted house in Stapleford will be raising both hairs and money for Cancer Research this Halloween.

This will be the sixth haunted house run by 21-year-old Matt Hall, who transforms his home into a scary maze every October.

Matt was inspired by a trip to America, where he visited Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights.

He then aimed to bring as much of the spooky culture back to the UK as possible.

The haunted house is not for the faint of heart

“It’s just grown and grown, especially this year,” said Matt.

“It’s probably the biggest one I’ve ever done.”

Last year the house had between 300 and 400 visitors who raised £450, which Matt hopes to double this year.

He decided to start raising money for Cancer Research last year, after four people in his family had suffered with the disease.

“My aunt was diagnosed with cancer during Halloween, and she was going through cancer which is the reason we did it, and we just thought we could carry it on for this year as well,” he said.

This year the house includes a zombie room, butcher room and a few other scary surprises.

The butcher room will give visitors a fright.

There will also be a photo opportunity and sweets at the end for anyone brave enough to make it through.

Despite the scares, the house advertises itself to be family friendly.

Those wishing to brave the maze are asked to give a small donation.

The house opens at 5pm until late on 31st October, and is located at 107 Brookhill Street.
