Video: Cllr Nick McDonald says new manufacturing jobs are vital to the city’s future
A new manufacturing facility with 50 jobs been opened in Radford.
Following a grant of just under £80,000 from the city council, Chrysalis Health and Beauty Solutions opened the Gauntley Street factory on Friday.
It will provide food supplements to brands and retailers in the UK.
The grant came from the Nottingham Technology Grant Fund, designed to promote growth for businesses.
We’re hoping to create new products and jobs
Chrysalis director Chris Smith said: “We’ve just opened it to produce tablets and capsules for nutritional supplements.
“It’s been thanks to the council and some funding that we’ve been able to do this.
“We’re hoping to create some new products and to bring some new jobs to Nottingham.”
This is an exciting initiative
Councillor Nick McDonald, portfolio holder for jobs and growth, was delighted to officially open the facility.
He said: “The variety of jobs and the fact that the end to end process is happening on site is part of an exciting initiative.
“We need more of this sort of thing to happen and we need more schemes like the Nottingham Technology Grant Fund because they were the means which has allowed the business to do what it is doing.”
