The first artist impressions of what the Broadmarsh car park will look like when it’s finished have been revealed in a planning application.

The planning application shows off a new look for the car park and bus station which will stand on the site of the one currently being knocked down.

Another side of the Broadmarsh car park proposal

The new car park is proposed to have 1,373 car park spaces, an increase of 194.

The current car park has almost been completely demolished with work expected to finish by the end of the year.

The car park is going as part of a £100 million-plus redevelopment of the south side of the city, which will include a revamp of the shopping centre by owners Intu, who were taken over earlier this month.

The application says: “This development of a much needed new interchange facility for Nottingham will provide increased efficiency in bus movement and deliver an enhanced user experience for passengers.

“Upon completion, the site will comprise of a principle interchange building, bus stands, car parking, new pedestrian and highways arrangements, hard and soft landscaping (as part of a separate application) and related infrastructure to service the interchange building.

“Commercial units are also proposed within the building’s ground floor levels, taking advantage of the heavy pedestrian footfall of this part of the city.

“A multi-storey car park above the bus station is also proposed allowing for an increased capacity and public car parking provision for this important location.”
