A West Bridgford pub has been declared home of Britain’s best roast dinner.
Larwood and Voce, a gastropub behind Trent Bridge cricket ground, won the title after a mystery visit by food critics.
It beat entries from around 440 other pubs from across the UK.
The award is given out as part of the annual ‘British Roast Dinner Week’, which is organised by a food production company.
Food critic Charles Campion said the venue’s ‘tender’ beef, selection of meats and use of locally-sourced ingredients helped it win the award.
He said: “At the weekend the pub is buzzing and you can hear the urgent clatter of knives and forks. The classic roast dinner is alive and well and living in Nottingham.”
A great British tradition: The competition’s five finalists
-Larwood and Voce, Nottinghamshire (Winner)
-Bunch of Grapes, Pontypridd
-The Crown Inn, Hereford
-The Duke of Wellington, East Horsley
-The Kyloe, Edinburgh
Dan Cramp, general manager of the pub, said: “Being crowned the winner of this prestigious national competition has made the whole team very proud.”
