Nottingham’s Lace Market Hotel will reopen next month, after a deal was completed for its sale.

The hotel, which closed suddenly back in May 2014 leading to 42 job losses, is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment.

Following the closure, it was bought by AG Higginson and Sons, but after starting upgrades the firm again put it on the market.

Two private investors have now bought the property and it will be managed by Compass Hospitality.

“We’re going to be a bit different. I signed up to this job being told it’s not a traditional hotel and it’s exciting that what we create here is going to make a big statement,” said Denny Keane, new general manager.

“Think really outspoken murals, colours, textures, layers – it’s all happening. With the investment we are putting in, we’ve got the opportunity to put some personality back into the place.”

The Cock & Hoop pub, which was part of the old hotel, will also reopen creating over 40 jobs in total.

The hotel is also focusing heavily on food, revamping the restaurant and bringing a new team of chefs in to create a new menu.

“We’re looking to do something that no one else offers in this city. We’ve got the pub where we’ll do burgers, pies and fish and chips. In the restaurant we’re going to be using modern techniques on food, with the influence of gastronomy.” said Ben Chaplin, the venue’s new head chef.

“The price point is going to be at a level that is accessible to everyone in both the pub and the restaurant. We’re not going to be serving £35 main courses.”

The hotel will reopen at the end of October.
