Video: A passerby captured the fire on camera
Traffic ground to a halt north of the city after a lorry burst into flames on the A60 Mansfield Road.
The fire closed the road in Daybrook close to the Vale pub at around 1pm and caused heavy traffic in the area.
Fire-fighters from Carlton, Highfields and Arnold were called to put out the fire and Nottinghamshire Police also attended to direct traffic.
Mansfield Road was closed until unitl around 2pm and the HGV was removed. No-one is thought to have been hurt.

Picture: Fire crews quickly got the blaze under control
Shop owners next to the spot where the lorry pulled up described the moment they saw the lorry in flames outside their windows.
Truman Holness, Owner of Sherwood Lighting, said: “I was in the back of the shop and one of my staff called me to the front to look at the lorry on fire.
“It started off small but it grew quite quickly, it was worrying as there were loud bangs and I didn’t want it to explode.”
