Notts County ‘keeper Scott Loach says he was frustrated under former boss Ricardo Moniz who told him he was “too soft”.
Loach said he ‘struggled to read’ the manager that signed him and that he didn’t know where he stood.
“His exact words to me were you are too soft,” Loach told Notts TV’s Christian Hewgill – but the former Watford man added that despite their differences, he still maintained the ‘utmost respect’ for his former gaffer.
Having replaced Roy Carroll in the starting eleven in the last three games, Loach is embracing his fresh start in goal for the Magpies.
He admits he was relieved when new boss Jamie Fullarton took over and that his run in the side has given his confidence a real boost.
Loach, an experienced player with more than 200 appearances in the Championship, said it was important he remains patient.
Good team spirit
“I’ve been fortunate to play a lot of games already in my career,” Loach added, saying this experience helped him to stay composed and level-headed in times where he wasn’t first-choice.
After a turbulent month at Meadow Lane, Notts have been enjoying a quiet week until yesterday, when the club was issued with a winding-up petition at the High Court.
The case has been adjourned until next month. But Loach insists recent off-field matters aren’t effecting the team.
“To be honest we don’t hear anything about it. We’ve got a good team spirit.”
