A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm and intent to cause fear of violence in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Nottinghamshire Police received a report a man had been seen with what looked like a firearm on Cowpes Close in Sutton-in-Ashfield at around 7.10am this morning (Friday July 6).
Armed officers attended and the man was arrested nearby on Farndale Road.
An imitation firearm, believed to be a BB gun, was recovered not too far from the scene.
Officers visited nearby Quarrydale Academy to give reassurance about the police presence and firearms officers, but do not believe the incident is connected to the school in any way.
