Man charged with two Newark rapes at same location

A 28-year-old man has been charged with sexual offences against two women at the same location nearly a year apart.

Dwane Smith, of Tower Crescent in Lincoln, has been charged with two counts of rape and appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 4.

Both incidents involve a room above the White Hart pub in Market Place, Newark, and are said to have taken place on Thursday, April 9 2015 and last Friday, April 1 2016.

Smith has been remanded in custody until his next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, May 3.
