Man charged with causing death of Jack Archer, 14

A man has been charged with causing the death of a 14-year-old cyclist in a Bingham road crash.

Jack Archer died after his bike collided with a car on Chapel Lane at around 10.10pm on Monday, July 25 2016.

Police launched an investigation and later arrested Steven Mills, of Cartbridge in Cotgrave.

Detectives announced today (Tuesday, January 24) he has now been charged and will face court next month.

The charges include causing death by careless driving, causing death while uninsured, doing an act intending to pervert the course of justice, failing to stop after a collision, failing to report a collision and using a vehicle without insurance.

The 28-year-old has released on bail and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 23.

Jack was from Newton, near Bingham, and was a pupil at Toot Hill School.
