Mark Cooper: Players on pitch must do a job

Mark cooper says his players must keep doing exactly what they are doing and find a little more quality in the final third when they travel to Mansfield at the weekend.

For the first time since September, the Magpies have back-to-back wins heading into Saturday’s derby game against The Stags.

With bragging rights at stake, it’s a game Notts fans would love to win, bringing a positive finish to a disappointing season.

It’s probably a more hostile atmosphere

But Cooper doesn’t think the hype of the derby has changed his team’s preparation.

“I think the only thing that is different is there’s more people there; it’s probably a more hostile atmosphere and bragging rights at stake. You’ve got to deal with all of that, but it’s down to the players on the pitch.”

Notts fans will be travelling in numbers to Field Mill, with the club selling all 1,762 of away tickets allocated.

It won’t be easy for the Magpies, with Mansfield’s turn of fortune this season meaning they are still pushing for a spot in the play-offs.

On Stags, Cooper said: “I’ve seen quite a lot of them this season and at one point they looked like they would get promotion, then they had a little bit of a blip.”

“I think if you get your team competitive and organised and you’ve got people that can score goals, you’ve got a chance”

Kick off is at 1pm and County currently sit 17th in the league.
