Two men have been charged with religiously aggravated public order offences at a Nottingham mosque.

Jamie Mullins, 27, of Nottingham Road, Nottingham, and Mathew Sarsfield, 30, of Sherbrook Road, Daybrook, were charged last week.

Mullins was also charged with criminal damage.

Both men will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on August 1.

Notts Police said two men had been arrested after the force was called at 1.45am on June 18 to reports “of two men acting suspiciously at a Mosque in Edwards Lane, Sherwood”.

A spokesman said: “Officers attended and, from there, a hate crime investigation was launched.

“We are committed to working with all of our communities and support them in every way possible.”

Anyone who has been a victim of hate crime is asked to call the force on 101.
