More flights from East Midlands Airport cancelled

 French Air Traffic Controller strikes continue to  cause cancellations and delays at East Midlands Airport.

This is the second consecutive day that the strikes have caused disruption to East Midlands Airport, with short haul flights the most severely affected.

Services are expected to return to normal on Friday (5 am) but further strikes are planned for April 16-18 and April 29-30 and May 1-2.

French Air Traffic Controllers are striking in part due to plans to increase the retirement age from 57 to 59.

Ryanair have been the worst affected airline with over 500 cancellations over the two days.

A Ryanair statement says:

We sincerely apologise to all customers affected by this unwarranted strike action and we again call on the EU and French authorities to act now and prevent thousands of travellers being held to ransom by these French ATC workers.

Ryanair has contacted all affected customers by e-mail or text.

Flights departing from Limoges (1.10pm), Valencia (4.35pm), Ibiza (5.40pm), Alicante (5.45pm) have been cancelled.

All flights expected from: Alicante, Ibiza, Limoges, Murcia and Valencia today, have been cancelled.

Travellers are being advised by the Civil Aviation Authority to check with their airline for delays and cancellations.
