A Tapas restaurant in Nottingham city centre opens it’s doors for the first time in place of Dogma nightclub, which closed last year following a stabbing.
Baresca, situated in Byard Lane, is now run by David and Jon Perkins of Good Table & Cheers Ltd.
The restaurant occupies a space previously owned by the city centre club Dogma, which was closed in June of last year following a stabbing that took place.
When asked about the effect the incident might have on people’s perception of the venue where the restaurant is now located, Jon Perkins remained unconcerned.
“We’re not worried at all, I know the history of the building but I think that’s all been put to bed now, that was a while ago, and we’ve completely transformed the building itself.
The concept itself, of Baresca, is a complete step away from the recent history of Dogma.

The restaurant has now been refurbished into a 180 seat venue with a cellar bar, which will feature live music from a mix of local and international artists.
The new owners have since spent £600,000 on refurbishing the site after securing a 20-year lease.

The opening of Baresca has brought 40 new jobs to the Nottingham area, bringing the total number of staff they employ up to 125.
Jon, of West Bridgford said: “There are a lot of unique things (about Baresca) but, if I had to name just a couple, one of the really important ones is the theatre experience you’ll get with the food.”
“It’s not just about the food and drink, it’s about the experience.”
The brothers are also planning to open another three tapas restaurants across central England over the next four years.
