Nottingham drama group to perform at Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Nottingham Youth Theatre inclusive company is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a production at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2015.

From the 17th-22nd August, the local drama group will be delivering a show titled ‘Bing Bang Bong’ at the Greenside Venue in Nicholson Square as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The company which consists of young people with and without additional learning disabilities from around Nottingham. The group will be performing at the festival for the first time in 18 years.

The play which will be performed is designed for children, and aims to bring new life to some well known and loved traditional tales. Some of the stories include; Little Red Riding Hood, Rumplestiltskin, Hansel and Gretel and several more familiar faces.

David Stewart, a drama tutor for the group believes that performing at the Fringe will help to boost the confidence of these young people.

“The most important thing is that the young people to do well, get an audience and perform to their very best, he said.”

One of the young actors involved in the play is Shelley Limer. In the play she features as Gretel and Blue Riding Hood.

She said: ” I’m very excited about going, it’s a new place and we get to meet new people. I’m very nervous.”

Nottingham Youth Theatre’s inclusive company has been running since 1990, catering for young people across the Nottingham area.

Most recently the company performed an adaptation of Midsummer Night’s Dream at the North of England Education Conference in 2014 in Nottingham.
