Nottingham Forest V Arsenal: Bendtner reveals he’s set himself a Reds goalscoring target

Nicklas Bendtner revealed he has set himself a goalscoring target for his time at Forest ahead of the side’s cup clash with Arsenal – but is keeping tight-lipped on the number.

The Danish striker faces his former club in the EFL Cup in front of a sold out City Ground on Tuesday night.

And he says Forest’s form in front of goal could provide a win – provided the side can plug the gaps at the back.

The Reds have scored 14 goals in their last six games – but have conceded 10, including two at home in Saturday’s defeat to Norwich.

He said: “We obviously have to be stronger than we have been in the last couple of games, where we have let in some easy goals, so we have to tighten up in defence and I think if we do that we know we can score.

“I think my experience can play a big part – I have had 11 years of experience in different leagues, different countries.”

Bendtner, who first played for Arsenal as a 17-year-old before heading out on loan and on to Italy and Germany,  also revealed he has set himself a goalscoring target for his time at Forest.

But he declined to reveal it with a grin at this afternoon’s pre-match press conference – or guarantee the goal fate would seem to demand during tomorrow’s fixture.

He added: “When we do get the chance we have to keep the ball and not be afraid of playing – and I’m sure we’ll get chances to score.”
