Nottinghamshire Cricket Club secure place in quarter finals

Nottinghamshire Outlaws have guaranteed their place in the quarter finals of the Royal London One-Day Cup after a 49 run victory over Middlesex.

The Outlaws batted first after losing the toss and posted 295-9 off their 50 overs.

Riki Wessels top scored with a career-best one-day score of 132 from 154 balls.

Steven Mullaney contributed with 51 and Luke Fletcher scored 39 off 34 balls towards the end of the innings.

Middlesex struggled to get ahead of the run rate at any point during their innings but were in a strong position to kick on when they were 152-1 in the 29th over.

The wicket of Nick Gubbins sparked a collapse and Middlesex found themselves 216-7.

In the end, the Nottinghamshire bowling attack was just too strong and dismissed the Panthers for 246.

The two spinners Imran Tahir ( 3-38) and Samit Patel (3-45) played key roles in the victory as Notts take the first step towards the final at Lord’s.
