Jamie Fullarton: ‘Extra bravery’ in final third needed for Notts County

Magpies manager Jamie Fullarton wants his players to show more bravery after producing a Meadow Lane defeat against Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Notts County will try to put that 1-0 loss right when they travel to League 2 high-fliers Accrington Stanley tomorrow night.

Ahead of the game at the Crown Ground, Fullarton assessed the side’s lack of consistency between home and away fixtures.

He said: “I can’t really speculate on what happened in the previous five or six months, I can only look at what we’ve done.

“The importance when playing at home is bravery and remember that’s not a physical action, it’s a mentality. In this division, there’s been a problem with most clubs.

The players are desperate to do well

“I think the record at home for most of the clubs in League 2 is something like 37 per cent so it isn’t just us who has to deal with that demand and expectation.

“That tipping of anxiety because the players are desperate to do well and because this is where the majority of fans see you perform.

“So the eagerness and determination in games to perform well is something where we have to get the balance correct.”

Accrington have won five of their last eight and top scorer Billy Kee will be looking to add to his 12 goals this season – but the Lancashire side will be wary of Notts’ current away form.

Jon Stead and Izale McLeod both drew a blank against Orient but have come to life of late on the road and will hope to provide enough firepower to bring the three points back to Meadow Lane on Tuesday night.
