An elite coach at a Nottinghamshire kickboxing club has hailed it as ‘the best in the UK, if not the world’.

Team Elite Kickboxing, based in Beeston, was founded in 2008 and now has four national champions on its books.

The club is highly thought of by those who work there.

Speaking on Sports Week, elite coach Karen Bailey said: “I personally moved from London to train here specifically as I couldn’t find anywhere else that could provide me the standard I needed as a GB athlete.

“I relocated my whole life, moved away from friends and family; I was a GB athlete and wanted to be the best in the world.”

Co-founder Anna Jermakova thinks positive energy is the key to the club’s success.

She said: “We believe in them, so when you’re surrounded by positive people that push you every day with a smile you try things that you’ve never tried before.

“You then find that confidence that you never thought you could; you’re overcoming your fears and reaching your goals.

“That’s an amazing feeling that provides a boost inside out and that shows in every day life.”
