Notts Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington expecting a girl

Nottingham’s very own Olympic gold medallist has announced she and husband Harry Needs are expecting a baby girl.

The swimming champion, who is originally from Mansfield, is due to give birth on June 4.

Adlington and her husband, a fellow swimmer, revealed they were expecting their first child together in HELLO magazine last December.

The gold medallist said on Twitter : “We’re so excited! I can’t wait to be a mum!”

Adlington’s husband also told Notts TV they were very excited for their upcoming arrival.

He said: “We’re just overwhelmed by all the lovely comments and super excited for next year.”

Rebecca Adlington won two gold medals in 2008 at the Beijing Olympics and two bronze medals in 2012 at the London games.
