Tipping staff in restaurants can make work places inefficient and “fraught with rivalries” a Canadian study says.
The University of Guelph in Ontario said its research showed the practice creates earning inequality between kitchen and serving staff.
About 100 restaurant managers and servers were involved in the study, and 160 online surveys were also completed for the study.
