Police appeal for witnesses to unprovoked assault

Nottinghamshire police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in an unprovoked attack outside a Nottingham bar leaving him with a fractured skull.

Michael Kane, who was visiting from Glasgow, was attempting to help a woman in distress when he was punched unconscious by a man, fracturing his skull.

The attack was outside Bambuu Bar on Stony Street  at 2.47am on 1 March.

Police have just released CCTV footage of the assault in an attempt to identify the alleged attacker.

Det Insp Mike Allen said: “This was an unprovoked and cowardly attack. So often we see one punch assaults like this end in tragedy.”

“In this case the victim had walked over to help a young woman and was instead punched to the floor suffering a serious injury.”

Nottinghamshire police urge anyone with information to call them on 101 quoting incident number 167 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
