Police are investigating after Gedling pub catches fire

A newly refurbished Nottingham pub has been forced to close after being damaged by a fire.

Firefighters were quickly on the scene at the Willowbrook pub in Gedling after a fire was reported at 2.47am.

Three fire engines from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident and managed to put it out by 5.19am.

The pub, which is located on Main Road, has recently gone through a £300,000 refurbishment after being bought by Castle Rock Brewery in 2013.

The fire is believed to have started from a faulty fridge, but this is yet to be confirmed.The full extent of the damage has yet to be assessed but the pub will remain closed for the imminent future.

Kat Smith, Media Relations Officer for Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are continuing the investigation to see if it is suspicious.”

This the third fire this week in Nottingham, after the Player’s cigarette factory and a Aspley house caught fire on Monday.
