Police move local derby fixture to Friday night

Notts County and Mansfield Town have one less day to wait for their SkyBet League Two grudge match after Nottinghamshire Police moved the game to August 14 due to safety concerns.

The Meadow Lane fixture, which had previously been scheduled for the Saturday was due to clash with Nottingham Forest’s home game against Rotherham United and has now been moved to Friday.

Both Nottingham sides were handed home fixtures for the second match day of the season due to England’s test match against Australia starting on August 6.

The Stags and the Magpies have not faced each other since March 2008 when over 10,000 fans saw the sides draw 0-0.

Another large crowd is expected for the game, ticket details are yet to be confirmed.
