Police name victim in fatal A610 collision

21-year-old, Abbie Chambers from Heanor has been named as woman killed in the A610 Eastwood collision on Wednesday night.

Chambers, was the passenger on an orange Suzuki Bandit motorcycle.

The male driver, 21, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre. He is still receiving treatment.

The collision was at around 2:50pm, approximately 450 metres from the A6096 Giltbrook Junction.

The drivers of the other three vehicles, two 19-year-old men and a 20-year-old woman, were all uninjured.

Roads Closed

Drivers were diverted through Kimberley and Eastwood while emergency services and forensic examiners arrived at the scene.

At one point, both sides of the A610 were blocked off. Drivers were reportedly queuing for up to an hour.

The roads were reopened around 11:30pm.
