Preview: Forest looking to regain ruthless streak at Sheffield Wednesday

Nottingham Forest are looking to find their ruthless form in front of goal again on Saturday when they travel to face Sheffield Wednesday.

Forest made 11 attempts on goal when they met Arsenal in the EFL Cup on Tuesday, but only two were on target and none of them found the back of the net in a 4-0 defeat.

But the Reds have good goalscoring form in the league, with only fourth-placed Barnsley scoring more than them so far this season.

And Wednesday have only found the net in nine of their eight games, meaning Philippe Montanier’s men have a good opportunity to get back on track after disappointment against the Gunners.

“The players know it’s a tough fixture,” said Montanier.

“But we have to use playing against a top team [Arsenal] to help us do everything to get a good result.

“After two defeats it’s important to break the negative period.”

Forest also lost at home in the league last time out, conceding two goals after opening the scoring against Norwich.

Defender Eric Lichaj expects Wednesday to try to play football – but also give Forest a physical battle.

He said: “They like to play – a little bit like Arsenal, but not their level, but they’ll want to play, particularly at home and it’ll be a tough match. The closeness means it might get a little bit spicier than usual,”
