PREVIEW: Notts looking to avoid FA Cup upset in trip to non-league Boreham Wood

Notts manager John Sheridan does not want County to be on the receiving end of an FA Cup upset and is preparing the team like he would any other game.

The Magpies travel from Meadow Lane to Meadow Park to play non-league Boreham Wood in the first round of the FA Cup and come into the game unbeaten in their last three games.

The game kicks off at 2pm on Sunday (November 6).

This is County’s first fixture in the FA Cup this season and Boreham’s second after they beat Hendon 3-0 in the fourth qualifying round to qualify for the first round proper.

Notts County have failed to make it past the first round in each of the last three seasons.

They will want to be in the next round badly but so do we

Manager John Sheridan said: “We can’t go into the game thinking that we’re going to win just because we’re playing a team from a lower division.

“We go in and prepare as if we’re playing Luton or Portsmouth and go in with that same mindset.

“If we perform to our capability we’ll get the result we are after; it’s a big game for Boreham Wood and they will want to be in the next round badly but so do we.”

This is the first ever meeting between the two teams in the FA Cup.

Richard Duffy misses the tie through picking up a fifth yellow card of the season in the 0-0 at Luton.

The Magpies have all three of their loanees available; Louis Laing, Vadaine Oliver and Aaron Collins.

Top scorer Jon Stead is expected to be out until around Christmas.

Boreham Wood’s top scorer Morgan Ferrier and club captain Joe Devara are set to return for the clash; defender Dave Stephens is also back in full training.
