Former Manchester United striker Danny Webber opened the scoring in an uncomfortable defeat for Notts County in the first round of the FA Cup on Friday night.
All the build-up to the Magpies’ away tie had been dominated by the influence of United’s ‘Class of 92’ on the non-league side, with five former United players owning a 50 per cent stake in the team.
And it was the likes of Gary Neville and Paul Scholes who were celebrating on the sidelines as Salford took the lead through Webber’s close-range strike on 46 minutes.
And the side three leagues below County made it 2-0 on 73 minutes with a Richie Allen goal.
The result will be seen as an embarrassment for Ricardo Moniz’s team after a good run of late in League 2.
Next up for County are Northampton in the league at Meadow Lane on November 21.
