A unique collaboration which brought a breakfast radio show onto Notts TV has been nominated for an industry award.

Sam & Amy from Gem 106 began broadcasting live on the channel as they were also going out on the airwaves back in August.

It marked the first time a local commercial radio show has appeared regularly on live television.

The project has now been nominated in the ‘best innovation’ category at the Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards 2016 – seen as the leading accolades in the business.

Gem 106 content director David Lloyd said: “It gives people an added insight to Sam and Amy’s lives – they see how they respond to each other. There’s visual chemistry as well as audio chemistry that people can see now – that’s been the real benefit of it.

“And what people might not always realise is the technology is done in a very clever way in that the cameras move automatically according to who is speaking.”

The awards ceremony will be held at The Roundhouse, London, on Tuesday, May 17.

Notts TV channel director Jamie Brindle said: “Sam & Amy rule, so getting the chance to work together was a no-brainer! The show is a great opportunity for existing fans to get something extra, and for Notts TV viewers to share some of the S&A magic.

“Our collaboration is all about turning great radio into television and we’re really pleased it’s been nominated in an industry full of creative competition.”
