St Ann’s gets a boost after council’s ‘blooming’ good work

Work has started on a project that will see nearly 62,000 plants being planted in St Ann’s over the next few months in a bid to improve the area.

The blooming marvellous initiative, that will give St Ann’s a new lease of life, is the result of a multi-agency partnership between Nottingham City Council and Nottingham City Homes.

The project will see around 5000 shrubs and plants be put in place each week until June, with the two agencies hoping it will improve the visual appearance of St Ann’s.

Four variety of shrubs will be planted as part of the initiative on banks in the area.

“This is a fantastic example of partners coming together to improve an area for the benefit of the local community,” said Councillor Nicola Heaton, portfolio holder for community services at Nottingham City Council.

She added: “The banks have previously had a detrimental impact on the area due to their untidiness and poor appearance.

“The plants chosen are varying in colour so will make a great difference to the landscape in the area and we hope residents enjoy the improvements made.”
