Beer brewed by three University of Nottingham students earns an official launch and will be available in pubs.
Stefano Occhi, Will Brennand and Will Gelder brewed a German style beer called ‘Alternate Universe’ as part of their Brewing Science and Practice Masters course.
Their beer is being launched at the Canalhouse on July 12 which will then be available in Castle Rock pubs.
We’ve come up with the right balance of flavours
Mr Occhi, responsible for PR and management, said: “Our objective was to produce a craft beer that wasn’t too strong but reflected the old style German beers.
“They are beginning to flourish again and we think we’ve come up with just the right balance of flavours.
“‘Alternate Universe’ is a pleasantly drinkable beer, well balanced with a malty, roasted caramel flavour which should have wide appeal.”
Brewing is one of the most rewarding industries
The beer has been welcomed with open arms by Castle Rock Brewery.
Managing director Colin Wilde said: “I hope the opportunity they’ve had to brew on a full commercial scale like this will hold them in good stead.
“Whether their future is in brewing or in any other career involving the complexities of product development, manufacturing or marketing, we wish them all the best.”
“All of us here raise a toast to their success in the hope that they do stick with brewing, one of the world’s oldest and certainly most rewarding industries.”
