Police are warning clubbers a particularly dangerous mix of illegal drugs could be circulating in Nottingham after two women fell ill and were hospitalised over the weekend.

Both visited the same unnamed nightclub and took substances which it is thought were MDMA or Ecstasy-like.

They are still in the Queen’s Medical Centre where they are now in a stable condition after arriving seriously ill.

Superintendent Ted Antill said: “We always warn people about the dangers of taking drugs but this warning becomes even starker in circumstances like these when it is clear there may be drugs circulating in the city which are having such a devastating impact.

“Please refrain from buying and taking drugs. If you have bought any drugs, particularly if you purchased them recently, do not take them.

“We actively target people who bring drugs into our city and we will continue to do so. I’d like to warn those who are thinking of supplying drugs here that we’re looking for you and we are determined to stop you.”

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs in relation to the incident.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers, which is free and anonymous, on 0800555111.
