Dame Helen Mirren has recorded a video praising an internationally-renowned classical singer born and raised in Mansfield.

Carly Paoli, 28, posted the video of Dame Mirren calling her voice ‘beautiful’ on her Twitter account on Thursday (June 22).

Carly announced a tour date at the Royal Concert Hall on November 21 earlier this month.

In the video, Dame Helen Mirren said: “I’d like to introduce you to the beautiful voice of Carly Paoli.

“When you listen to her album, you’re going to feel like you’re in heaven because she sings like an angel.”

Carly’s debut album Singing My Dreams comes out on June 30.

Dame Mirren has previously received the prestigious Italian arts award the Premio Barocco, which Carly Paoli was presented with earlier this year.

In the Tweet including the video, Carly said: “Blessed and humbled that our beloved Helen Mirren endorsed Singing My Dreams.

“She is definitely the most generous, beautiful soul I’ve met.”

Carly appears on the June 23 edition of Notts Tonight and performs some of the tracks off her new album and chats to Owen Shipton.
